More Caddo Roads Closed Due To Hazardous Ice Conditions

Just before 10:00 pm on Monday, January 15, the winter weather conditions in Northwest Louisiana had worsened to the point that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development deemed it necessary to close a number of additional roads in Caddo Parish.

In a press release from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department, we learned that at approximately 9:45 pm on Monday night, Caddo Deputies joined the DOTD to close LA Highway 169 southbound from Colquitt Road in Spring Ridge and northbound from Keatchie Marshall Road at Four Forks. Local traffic northbound should detour onto LA Highway 789. Travel between LA Highway 789 and Colquitt Road is blocked.

Officials have also closed US Highway 79 southbound at US 80 in Greenwood and northbound at Buncombe Road. The road is impassable from the Relay Station to Locust Hill Road where several 18 wheelers are stuck in the travel lanes.

Due to winter weather, North Lakeshore Drive is also now closed from Tacoma Boulevard to Hilry Huckaby Avenue.

DOTD’s emergency personnel will continue to monitor upcoming weather situations and will scout the area for safety on the roadways.

Crews will be mobilized as needed in the event severe weather conditions threaten an area. In addition, DOTD crews will apply salt to any affected bridges and overpasses.

DOTD reminds motorists that it is unsafe and unlawful to drive onto a closed road past a “road closed” barricade at any time for any reason.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through areas that may be affected by accumulations of ice on the roadways, especially on elevated surfaces. Please be on the lookout for crews and their equipment.
