North Caddo Parish Traffic Alert For LA 530 and I-49 Drivers
Drivers in north Caddo Parish in and around Oil City are in for an improved experience on the roads, but the much needed repair work on LA 530 comes with its own share of inconvenience.

According to the recent alert from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers are warned that beginning today, Monday, January 19, road crews will be working on LA 530 (Belcher-Oil City Road) to repair a cross drain pipe located approximately 0.5 miles west of I-49. Traffic will be maintained with flagging operations during these repairs, which are anticipated to take two days.
Once that work is complete, DOTD advises that this Wednesday, January 21, the contractor will begin working to remove and replace two large culverts located under the roadway, also located approx. 0.5 miles west of I-49. This will require a full road closure, which will remain in place for about three weeks, weather permitting.
Due to the work conditions and pending closure, drivers wishing to access LA 530 from I-49 (going west) should plan alternate routes during this time, such as utilizing LA 1.
There are several cross drain pipes located under LA 530 that will be replaced as part of this $4.7 million project to repair this 5.3 mile section, and additional dates will be issued when those are finalized.
Overall, the project includes drainage improvements such as the cross drain replacements, full-depth base repairs at specified locations, milling to remove old asphalt, new asphalt paving, new guardrail, fresh roadway striping & signage, and related work.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in late Spring 2026, weather permitting.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
