Hearne Ave. Bridges Over Cross Bayou Reduced to One Lane All Week
For any who have been critical of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development over the last few years, they have called your bet and raised you one.

DOTD has put as much effort into our Northwest Louisiana roads this summer as one could ever hope for. From the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City, the new Jimmie Davis Bridge project, to the emergency road work brought on by the extreme heat, DOTD has certainly been stepping and fetching.
And couple with all the actual construction work they are doing, DOTD is taking the necessary time to ensure that our bridges remain safe. Hats off DOTD! Thank you!
And this week, drivers on Hearne Avenue in Shreveport will experience some traffic issues due to the scheduled maintenance work on the bridges over Cross Bayou, just south of the intersection of LA 173 (Ford Street).
Beginning today and continuing through Friday, from approximately 8:00 am until 4:00 pm each day, DOTD will reduce both the northbound and southbound Hearne Avenue bridges over Cross Bayou to one lane while construction crews complete the much needed maintenance work.
According to DOTD, these bridge maintenance crews will be performing repairs to several components of the structures, so please drive carefully through the work zone.
This work will be done "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay or extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
