In an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we see that motorists have been advised that on the night of Thursday, October 10, the westbound lane of the LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Bridge) over the Red River in Bossier and Caddo Parishes will be closed.

DOTD goes on to say that this lane closure is scheduled to take place from approximately 9:00 pm to 5:00 am for one night, and is necessary to allow the contractor for the Jimmie Davis Bridge project to mobilize equipment in order to pour concrete for the test shaft for the new bridge.

The bridge will remain open to traffic, with vehicles allowed through via the use of flagging operations.

As with all projects from the DOTD, this work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could extend, postpone or alter scheduled days/hours of this project.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
