Cory Craig Is This Week’s Caught in the Act Recipient

Jenn eloquently wrote in her nomination letter about Cory, "If your student has ever had her as a teacher, they are undoubtedly better for it."

See, Cory is one of those teachers who truly loves their students and she's willing to go the extra mile to show them that love. And it's her giving heart and a real dedication to these kids that made her the perfect person to name as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

Cory Joy Craig is one of the Band Directors at Benton Intermediate School. But, Lord is she so much more! She's also the current Middle School Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Louisiana. Let me tell you just a few reasons why. Over Spring Break this year, while most teachers were enjoying their MUCH needed and deserved break from our kids, she wasn't. That's not who she is. She's made herself available SEVERAL days at the school for ANY band kid who needed additional help. Who does that!? Her. That's who. She can take the slightest spark of interest in music in a child and turn it into an inferno. The belief and love she instills in each and every one of them is felt down to their souls. And they'll all tell you. Whether she's organizing volunteer opportunities for the kids, field trips, performances, the list is endless. And she does it all with her whole heart. The kids are learning so much more than music from her. They're learning life skills, persistence, the importance of community and helping, and overall how to just be good people. If your student has ever had her as a teacher, they are undoubtedly better for it.
