Bossier Bridge Alert: Pleasant Hill Cemetery Road Closed for Repairs
In 2025, eleven percent of Louisiana bridges were determined to be structurally deficient. That number was the eighth highest in the entire country.

According to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, Louisiana determined that 2,997 bridges were in need of repair.
Making matters worse, it was also revealed that of the 12,684 bridges in Louisiana, 1,423, or 11.2 percent, are classified as structurally deficient. This means one of the key elements is in poor or worse condition. The deck area of structurally deficient bridges accounts for 6.1 percent of total deck area on all structures.
Evidently, someone has been paying attention as we've had scores of bridge repair/replacement projects over the past several months, which hopefully is putting a dent in that staggering statistic.
In the latest of these projects, we learn in a Facebook post from the Bossier Parish Police Jury of the closing of a bridge on Pleasant Hill Cemetery Road, approximately 0.4 miles west of its intersection with Pleasant Hill Road, in the northern part of Bossier Parish.
According to the Bossier Parish Police Jury, this bridge will be closed approximately two weeks, barring inclement weather, while repairs are made to the significant damage the bridge has sustained.
BPPJ advises that the closure will affect traffic on Pleasant Hill Cemetery Road and suggest the following alternate access routes:
- Address ranges 100 – 771 Pleasant Hill Cemetery Road can be accessed via HWY 157/Boyd Road.
- Address ranges 860 – 1200 Pleasant Hill Cemetery Road can be accessed via HWY 157/Pleasant Hill Road.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead and use caution when traveling in the area. The Bossier Parish Highway Department appreciates your patience as crews work to complete these necessary improvements.
