Where Have the ICE Arrests Happened in Louisiana?

More than 57% of ICE arrests in Louisiana in 2025 happened in jails and prisons.

2,050 people were arrested by ICE at jails and lockups in Louisiana. Another 3,571 were arrested in the community at homes, businesses or other locations.

Governor Jeff Landry stepped in to create the Louisiana Lockup at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. This effort expanded detention space by using a former disciplinary wing as an immigration hub.

The ICE Arrest Numbers Are Skewed – Here’s Why

Louisiana is one of the states that is fully cooperating with ICE. Several states are not granting ICE access to jails and prisons, so the arrests in those states are lower. Louisiana mandates local collaboration with federal law enforcement. Texas is also cooperating and the Lone Star State has the highest number of ICE arrests in the nation.
