UPDATE: I-49 Back Open After Big Rig Wreck in North Caddo

I-49 in north Caddo Parish is now back open. The wreck has been cleared up.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A part of I-49 in north Caddo Parish was shut down overnight while deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck involving an overturned 18-wheeler accident.

The accident happened just before midnight on the overpass of I-49 south and La. Hwy 170. Deputies say high winds caused the tractor trailer to overturn and block both lanes of traffic. The truck also leaked oil onto the roadway.   The driver suffered minor injuries in this accident.

Crews have been on the scene throughout the night to clear up the roadway and get the traffic flowing again. I-49 northbound lanes are open. The southbound lanes remain closed until further notice.

Highway 170 runs between Gilliam and Vivian.
