SHREVEPORT, LA - It's a lot easier now to find out how much you should be getting in child support in Louisiana. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has launched the Child Support Estimator, an online tool designed to provide parents with more details about how much parents have to pay.

This tool will help parents determine how much money they should have coming in to support their children.

DCFS Secretary Terri Porche Ricks says "this innovative estimator tool gives parents a powerful tool to develop and manage their family’s financial security. It underscores our department’s commitment to nurturing co-parenting, facilitating growth via education, and cultivating families’ financial security.”

You can access this tool online and put in some basic financial details and you will be able to get an estimate of what your child support should be. Word of caution: this Child Support Estimator does not replace the need for expert legal advice.

DCFS Child Support Director Konitra Jack says “This tool isn't just about numbers; it's about offering clarity and understanding, so families can make well-informed decisions that shape their futures positively. Through this estimator, we strive to bridge the gap between uncertainty and confidence, ensuring a stronger foundation for both parents and the children they support.”
