Earlier today, Fox News reported that House Speaker John Boehner announced his support for President Obama's call for a military strike on Syria. This gives Obama's plan a hefty endorsement just before the upcoming key hearing on Capitol Hill.

As he left today's White House meeting with top-ranking lawmakers, Boehner said: "I'm going to support the president's call for action, [the] chemical weapons attack last month has to be responded to."

President Obama spoke from the Rose Garden of the White House last week stating that he had met with congressional leaders to present evidence of a chemical attack by the Syrian government against its people.

Earlier, Secretary of State John Kerry suggested that the United States must respond or risk the chance that other dictators might act similarly.

Chemical weapons experts have advised against bombing stockpiles of chemical weapons in the region, as the potential chemical release could possibly kill nearby civilians and create a long-lasting environmental catastrophe.
