The House Committee on Criminal Justice is holding a hearing next week to get an update on the death penalty in Louisiana.  The panel will hear from family members of victims.  Scheduled to give testimony during this hearing are

Caddo District Attorney James Stewart talks with us about all the delays in getting executions back on track in Louisiana.

Raymond Crews of Bossier City serves on this committee.  The regular session of the Legislature begins Monday, April 8th and runs through Thursday, June 6th.

Here are some of the other bills which will be before this committee later this spring:

Prohibit convicted sex offenders from participating in or being physically present in a home school program

Raises the minimum age relative to the distribution, sale, purchase, or possession of tobacco products, alternative nicotine products, or vapor products

Creates the crime of aggressive driving and provides for the elements and penalties of the offense

Provides relative to temporary restraining orders and protective orders in domestic abuse cases
