Community Walk Set for Thursday Morning
The YMCA is also hosting a community walk at 7am on Thursday morning. This event is being held at all 3 locations: BHP on Knight Street, Lash Family Y on Ellerbe Road and the Downtown Y. You are encouraged to wear blue and be prepared to walk 8 laps around the property, one lap for each of the children killed.
YMCA leadership team says
Our hearts are heavy after the recent tragedy in Shreveport. It is okay to be heartbroken, angry, or sad. But we do not have to carry this weight alone. Let’s come together to support the victims, their families, and each other. We are walking to show that our community is united, compassionate, and stronger than fear.
The "Walk of 8" will start with a prayer and then a quiet walk around the centers. The public is invited to attend.
