Shreveport’s Herby K’s Matriarch Janet Bean Has Died
Sad news from Herby K’s today. The local eatery has announced that family matriarch Janet Bean has died after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Janet, or Jan as friends and family called her, was that ever smiling face behind the counter to greet customers and make sure your visit to this historic restaurant was a special event.
The family posted this message on Facebook today:
We are sad to report that our matriarch, Janet Bean, passed away peacefully last night after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer. We will be closed today to honor her memory and allow our team to mourn. We plan to reopen tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers and support during this time. Love, Lesley and Rachael
The family asks for prayers during this difficult time. Herby K’s has been an institution in our community since 1936. It has been open at the same location on Pierre Avenue all those years. The family is planning a celebration of life event to honor Jan. More details to come.
