Did you know that a 90% of child abuse victims are abused by someone they know and trust? Were you aware that only about 38% of child victims disclose the fact that they have been sexually abused? Some never end up telling anyone.

There is a major child abuse problem in the United States and it has only gotten worse since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic due to heightened stress, school closures, loss of income, and social isolation, per the CDC.

Luckily, there are organizations like Gingerbread House out there, which aim to lessen the trauma experienced by child abuse victims by providing the care and support that they so desperately need.

Gingerbread House provides their services to victims free of charge, relying entirely on donations from the local Shreveport community to keep them afloat and continue working toward their mission to lessen trauma experienced by child abuse victims as allegations are investigated and to provide support for the victim throughout the investigation, prosecution, and treatment phases of cases.

Getting involved is easy. You can and donate to Gingerbread House's Give For Good page here between April 21 and May 4. A list of resources from Gingerbread House can be found here as well.

Also, don't forget about the Give For Good, which is a 24-online giving challenge led by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana to raise unrestricted dollars for nonprofits like Gingerbread House in the community on Tuesday, May 4.
