SHREVEPORT, LA - Blistering heat is back with us this week. Shreveport and Bossier City are under a heat advisory today. This is expected to continue through Tuesday.

This heat advisory is in effect until 8pm Monday night, but another will likely be put in place for tomorrow.

Our temperature is expected to climb to nearly 100 degrees by late this afternoon. Our heat index will make it feel like 108 degrees across the region.

This heat advisory extends into parts of south central and southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas. The Dallas Fort Worth area is also under this heat advisory. Temps in Dallas are expected to surpass the 100 degree mark this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon.

Maine, New York, New Hampshire, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Northern Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Wyoming.

What Should You Do?

The National Weather Service says you should "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."

State Surgeon General Ralph Abraham tells KEEL News you should take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Take action immediately when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
