Great Turnout for Bill Joyce Book-signing at Toy Fair
Lots of folks turned out to pick up copies of Bill Joyce's new book 'Billy's Booger' Saturday afternoon.
My daughter and I were among the crowd. We were in about the middle of Toy Fair in Pierremont Mall by the time the line started stretching out the door. It took roughly an hour to get to the book-signing area.
People didn't seem to mind the wait, since it gave them time to browse and visit with friends. Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler was there getting her own book signed. (She did proclaim the day 'Billy's Booger Day' in Shreveport, after all!) She made the rounds through the line, greeting everyone along the way. She was even gracious enough to take a photo with my 6-year-old daughter Emma.
The event was Joyce's launch of the new book, so local residents got to be the first to buy it and get it signed. Of course, we read it immediately...and it was hilarious, as I expected it would be! There is not a single Bill Joyce book that I wouldn't recommend for your family.
This makes the third signed Bill Joyce book in our collection. I bought an already-signed copy of 'The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore," and visited Toy Fair for the signing of 'A Bean, a Stalk and a Boy Named Jack."
My daughter was pretty excited when we got to the signing table. She's become a big William Joyce fan! Of course, she had to tell him she lost a top tooth over the weekend. He told her that maybe by the time his next book comes out in October, she'll have lost both of those top teeth. It was a fun experience for both of us, and we can't wait for that next story to be published!
