Governor John Bel Edwards has toured a part of central Louisiana hit by tornadoes this weekend.

Edwards stopped at several spots in Ville Platte just hours after Sunday morning storms roared through. The Governor has told reporters at least three non-serious injuries were reported and he was thankful no lives were lost.

More than 6,000 people were left without power and that includes nearly every one in the Ville Platte community.

State Police have sent in troopers to assist with recovery efforts in the community.

The Governor will also be in Ruston today to visit areas hit by the powerful twister back on April 25th. He will tour affected areas and then meet with members of the media.

The tornado in Ruston claimed the lives of a mother and son. The City of Ruston is holding a community meeting on Tuesday for residents impacted by the storm. They will try to answer questions and provide updates on the recovery efforts. The gathering is being held at 5:30 tomorrow at the Historic Fire Station in Downtown Ruston.
