A local man is recovering from wounds he received yesterday evening during an altercation in downtown Shreveport.

Around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing near the intersection of McNeil Street and Lake Street.  Upon arrival, officers found 51-year-old Gregory Strauss suffering from a laceration to the face.  Strauss was transported to LSU Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives were immediately dispatched and, upon further investigation, discovered Strauss apparently attempted to intervene in a dispute between 22-year-old Joshua D. Owens and another man when Owens allegedly pulled out some sort of edged weapon and cut him.  Owens, of the 3200 block of Woolbert Street in Shreveport, was apprehended without incident at the scene of the crime and, following interviews with investigators, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of aggravated second degree battery.
