A local man is behind bars this morning after he allegedly snatched a woman’s purse last night in west Shreveport.

Just before 7:45 p.m. on December 27, 2013, a man snatched a woman's purse outside of Wal-mart in the 9500 block of Mansfield Road. A witness who saw the attack chased down the offender, who was attempting to run off with the stolen loot. The Good Samaritan was able to catch up with the suspect and retrieve the victim’s property just as patrol officers were arriving. Responding patrolmen took up the gauntlet and followed the bandit into a wooded area near the store, where he was taken into custody after fighting with police. The victim was not injured.

Police detectives interviewed the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Masters.  Based on information and evidence gathered during the course of their inquiry, investigators booked Masters into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of purse-snatching and one count of resisting an officer.
