Glenn Ford, who was exonerated after spending 30 years on death row for the 1983 murder of a Shreveport jeweler, may have died 2015 but his lawyers are still fighting the state on his behalf. According to Louisiana's compensation laws, Ford should have received 25 thousand dollars for every year of incarceration, with a cap of 250 thousand dollars. His lawyers also asked 80 thousand for loss of life opportunities, for a total of 330 thousand dollars.

The state denied Ford's original request because they claim Ford knew about the robbery but did nothing to stop it. His case will go before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals Monday afternoon.

Attorneys from the Innocence Projects will be arguing that the courts were wrong not to compensate Ford. They are also urging the state to re write the law so that this situation can be avoided in the future.
