What is Give for Good? Jennifer Steadman with The Community Foundation of North Louisiana tells us it's a 24-hour online giving challenge to raise unrestricted dollars for the nonprofits in our community.

It's a full day of giving to celebrate our nonprofits and a chance to raise thousands of dollars to make our community better.

Things get kicked off at midnight May 6, 2014, and run through midnight the following day. The national day of giving recognized the 100th anniversary of community foundations across the country, and the impact we can make in our community when we Give for Good.

So how does it all work?

First, nonprofits create a giving profile on the giving website. Next Tuesday, anyone can visit that website and choose the nonprofit(s) they want to give to. Then dollars from a national pool, our local "Lagniappe Fund," and hourly prizes will be used to amplify every gift.

Here's a list of participating nonprofits in our area.
