Shreveport-Bossier Sets Record After Exceptionally Tough Year
I can't tell you how happy this news makes me. The results of this year's 2021 Community Foundation of North Louisiana Give for Good Day prove once again that Shreveport/Bossier City is a community that cares for its own.
According to preliminary numbers from The Community Foundation, yesterday’s annual Give for Good Day raised $2,301,350 through 10,113 donations to 241 local organizations. That figure beats last year's total of $1,959,096 raised. Truly, the generosity of our community is incredible. Here we are, on the tail of a pandemic and one of the hardest years in recent memory for Louisiana, and folks are still willing to dig deep to help the organizations that make Shreveport/Bossier so unique.
If you're not familiar with the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, it's a philanthropy that was established in 1961 with the express purpose of bringing people and resources together to solve problems and enhance our community. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $80 million in grants to local non-profit organizations. They created the Give for Good campaign in 2014 and have raised over $12 million in the ensuing years for local non-profit agencies. 2022's Give for Good Day will be May 3rd.
There are two ways to donate during Give for Good. You can either select the specific organization you would like to support or your donation can go into the 'Lagniappe' fund, which will then be distributed to the participating groups. The big winner yesterday was the Prize Foundation, raising $181,801. I've listed the other ten organizations from the Give for Good Leaderboard below:
