Throughout northwest Louisiana, neighbors will be getting together tomorrow night to give crime and drugs a going-away party.  That's the theme for this year's Shreveport/Bossier night out.

Nearly 90 block parties are officially registered in Shreveport and 13 more are registered in Bossier City.  At 6 o'clock tomorrow evening, residents in those neighborhoods will turn on their outside lights and head outdoors to get to know each other better and to interact with public safety professionals and elected officials.

For many years, Shreveport/Bossier was part of National Night Out, which is always observed on the second Tuesday in August.  But several years ago, the decision was made to shift the local observance to the second Tuesday in October to get away from the oppressive Summer heat.
