A bill that would increase the state tax by as much as 23 cents a gallon will be introduced this week during House Ways and Means committee meetings. Shreveport's State Rep. Alan Seabaugh, a member of that committee, tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert and Erin why he opposes an increase of any amount and what the bills chances are of making it through committee and on to the House floor for a vote.

Seabaugh also tells KEEL listeners why the bill, which will most likely call for a increase of 17 cents a gallon, will be introduced by a Republican House member and why, surprisingly, so many Republicans are in favor of Louisianans paying substantially more at the pump.
