Full Details of Shreveport Marshal Charlie Caldwell’s Memorial
Details have been released about the memorial service for Shreveport City Marshal Charlie Caldwell. Caldwell drowned Thursday of last week while on vacation in Florida, after falling from a boat while reaching for his hat that had gone into the water. Caldwell went in the water, but never resurfaced. His body was found the following Saturday by a kayaker, who notified authorities.
Thursday, June 30th
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 30th at Summer Grove Baptist Church beginning at 4P. At 8P Mr. Caldwell's body will be transferred from Summer Grove to The Heavenly Gates Funeral Home. Law enforcement officials will lead the processional to the outer lane of Highway 3132 East to the inner lane of I-49 North, shutting down major intersections along the route.
Friday, July 1st
Caldwell's funeral service begins at 11A Friday, July 1st at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave. After the service, Mr. Caldwell's body will then be transferred for graveside service at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road.
The Shreveport City Council has called a special election for March, 2023 to determine a new City Marshal. Chief Deputy James Jefferson has been named as interim Marshal until the special election can be held.
