A lot of people on the internet got their wish...at least partially.

The tragic loss of Jeopardy host Alex Trebek left a giant hole in our universe. But many found some solace with the idea that another legend of humanity could take over the hosting duties for Jeopardy. That legend, is LeVar Burton

Actor and activist LeVar Burton is best known for his long-time passion project Reading Rainbow, as well as the Star Trek franchise, and the film Roots. Levar Burton recently appeared in Shreveport as a part of the comic con style event, Geek'd Con, in 2019.

Many online made it know that they want LeVar to take over the hosting duties for the show, even though he'd never hosted it before. Well, he never hosted before, until now that is. Because LeVar Burton will get his chance to guest host Jeopardy, along with a list of other stars.

Mike Richards, the Executive Producer for Jeopardy, told Variety that the rotating guest hosts is part of the process to find a full time host:

“Our goal has been to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skill sets and backgrounds on our path to finding a permanent host. Our passionate fans are telling us what they like, and we are listening. All of the guest hosts have brought individualism, energy and an authentic love of our show to each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing the rest of the season with our viewers.”

The website Change.org has a petition to make LeVar Burton the permanent host that started last year. It has gained more than 200,000 signatures at this point.
