Car Crashes into Trees and Lake in NW Louisiana – One Dead

The wreck happened on Louisiana Highway 9 near Corney Lake Road in Claiborne Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 72-year-old Martha Musticchi of Little Rock, Arkansas.

State Police report Musticchi was driving northbound in a Honda Accord on Highway 9. The car left the roadway for unknown reasons. The car hit several trees and then landed in a nearby lake where the Honda sank.

Musticchi was buckled up and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police urges drivers to obey all traffic laws and remain alert while driving. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
