Polls closed at 8pm for one of the lowest turnouts on record for an election day in Louisiana. The State Treasurer's race was the biggest item on the ballot and that didn't draw many people to the polls.

Election results from the Secretary of State's Office show this race will have to be decided in a runoff election on November18th.

Democrat Derrick Edwards led the field in the Treasurer's race. He'll face Republican John Schroder in the runoff. Angele Davis finished 3rd in the crowded field.

District Judge -- 26th Judicial District Court, Division C

Lane Pittard is the winner over Cynthia Carroll-Bridges .

Caddo Parish Commission District 12

John W. Cunningham will face Louis Johnson in the runoff on November 18th.

Caddo Fire District Propositions

Both measures passed easily. Both are for Fire District 5. One is a $75 service charge. The other is a $50 service charge.

DeSoto Parish Millages

Voters say "no" to the DeSoto Parish Property Tax 1.26 Mills Continuation for the Police Jury for 10 years. With only 12% voter turnout, the measure failed 52 to 48%.

Voters did approve the DeSoto Waterworks District. No. 1 -- .99 Mills for 10 years.
Voters also approved two measures for fire protection. The DeSoto Fire District 1 5 mills renewal wins and so did the DeSoto Fire District 3 $50 annual service charge.

Voters in Logansport approved a sales and use tax renewal for 20 years. The final vote tally was 111-27.

All 3 Constitutional Amendments also passed.

In the race for Mayor of New Orleans, the Crescent City will be getting its first female mayor. LaToya Cantrell will face fellow Democrat Desiree Charbonnet in the November 18th runoff.
