A date has been set for the Eighth Air Force Museum Association Distinguished Speaker Series Dinner. Officials at Barksdale Air Force Base say the spring dinner is scheduled for May 12th at the Eldorado Resort Casino in Shreveport. A silent auction will begin at 6 that evening, and the dinner is at 7. Cost including the dinner is $40 a person. Dress is business casual, and you'll need to RSVP by May 10th. Call the Museum Gift Shop (at 752-0055) for more information. The Distinguished Speaker Series highlights an impressive spokesperson quarterly. This time around, it's retired Air Force Colonel Chuck DeBellevue, who was the first USAF weapons systems officer to become an ace during the Vietnam War in 1972. Among the awards he received during his time in the military are the Air Force Cross, Silver Star with two oak leaf clusters, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross with five oak leaf clusters.
