East Texas Filmmaker's Documentary Comes To Robinson

Director and screenwriter Derek Wayne Johnson's highly acclaimed documentary, "John G. Avildson: King of the Underdogs", comes to Shreveport's Robinson Film Center Tuesday night for a special showing that is already sold out. The Nacogdoches native talked with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the movie, his admiration for the legendary director and the lengthy list of Hollywood "A-listers" who are an integral part of the film. In this clip, Johnson describes his first phone call to Avildson - a call out of the blue - that not only started the ball rolling, but began a close friendship between the two.
