An abandoned building in downtown Shreveport caught fire this afternoon. This blaze happened at 114 Texas Street which is the former of the old Sportspage and Humphrees in the Square in the Red River District.

This old building has been abandoned for several years and has been the center of debate in Shreveport's newly created environmental court for possible demolition. But nothing had been done by the absentee owner who apparently lives out of town.

This building is less than a block away from the Blind Tiger which is at the corner of Texas and Spring Street in downtown.

More than 32 fire units were on the scene and the building ultimately collapsed. No one was hurt and details about what started the blaze have not yet been released.
