DOTD Crews Fix Unusual Problem in West Shreveport
SHREVEPORT, LA - Something happened last week that was pretty scary. Our radio station is on Westport in West Shreveport. This is the frontage road along I-20 if you are not familiar with that part of town.
A tire came off of a big truck cruising down the highway and that tire hit one of my co-workers car, causing some damage. The tire would have crashed through one of our windows if her SUV was not in the way. So no one was hurt. But it could have been so much worse.
Why am I telling you this story? Well I get asked all the time to help fix some kind of problem wrong in our community. And this is a perfect example of how you can get things fixed.
The fence along Westport has been falling down for months. It has many holes in it, but no one has really made it a point to find out who could take care of it.
I took some pictures of the problems with the fence and thought about who could help me get the problem fixed. I decided to contact Senator Thomas Pressly to find out who was the go to person to get this taken care of. Within just a day of my call to the Senator, a crew from DOTD came out to take a look at the fence.
And just a day later another crew came out and put up new fencing. Now, they did not repair all of the fence along Westport. But they fixed a large segment of it.
I do hope they come back and repair all of the fencing. I'll keep you posted.
But my message to you is to find the person who can help fix your problem. Don't just complain about it and whine. Someone can help. But often you have to be a squeaky wheel. Complain to someone who can get answers for you.
Often someone can make a phone call or two and get things moving. That's exactly what happened in this case.
DOTD probably didn't even know about the condition of this fence. Now they do and they stepped in and took action.
Thanks to Senator Thomas Pressly and the DOTD crews for getting the job done.
