As reported by KEEL News, a Shreveport police officer was one of two people injured early Thursday morning. The incident took place near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Missouri Avenue. Neither of the injuries to either party were life threatening.

Thursday afternoon, the Louisiana State Police released details of their investigation, as requested by the SPD:

"The initial investigation revealed that SPD responded to a call for service involving a suspicious person.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a person matching the description.  The suspect was later identified as 20-year-old Devin Ned of Shreveport.

As officers approached Ned, he fled the scene in a vehicle.  SPD pursued the vehicle to the 1800 block of Missouri Avenue, where it came to a stop.  Officers gave loud verbal commands and instructed Ned to exit the vehicle.  Ned refused to exit and depressed the vehicle’s accelerator, ultimately striking one of the officers.  One officer discharged a duty-weapon striking Ned.

Ned and one officer were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is processing the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing."
