Parents of students at the Stanley school in Desoto Parish are on edge today about threats made by a student. But Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle tells KEEL News these threats are old and go back to the beginning of the school year.

But Arbuckle did send extra deputies to the school today to calm the fears of students and parents.

Arbuckle says a 10th grader at the school made some threats last year and he was dealt with and moved to an alternative school. Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley tells KEEL that student has since been moved back to a regular school and has not been a problem at all.

But that earlier threat recently resurfaced in light of the tragedy in Florida. Arbuckle says he sent extra deputies to the school as a precaution.
