Some big workshops dealing with open burning are coming up. Recently, the statewide drought has brought attention to burning wood waste -- and that there are environmental regulations against many types of burning. What you CAN and CAN'T burn have been an issue all over the state. That's why the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is sponsoring the free workshops to assist fire departments, municipalities and the general public in understanding the regulations -- and inform folks about open burning "do's" and "don'ts." The first of these workshops is being held right here in Shreveport, and everyone's invited. It takes place next Tuesday, the 19th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Mary Allen State Office Building, Room 34, on Fairfield Avenue. Another workshop will be held next Wednesday in West Monroe.
