The Shreveport Cross Lake Patrol has temporarily closed all publicly-operated boat lauches and suspended boat and other watercraft traffic on Cross Lake.

This comes as the result of rising water, making boat launches inaccessible. You are welcome to fish along the banks of the lake, but officials urge caution, since some areas may give way to standing water.

There's no word yet on when the lake will re-open, but authorities expect lake levels to continue to rise, with the current forecast calling for even more rain.

Cross Lake Patrol officers will monitor the lake for people who disregard the closed status.

In addition to the lake being closed, Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation has also closed three of its facilities -- Chris Hayes, Hollywood Heights and Valencia.

Because schools have been closed today, and will be again tomorrow, all SPAR athletic events are canceled and will be rescheduled.
