Councilman Flurry On Cross Bayou: ‘About 90% Yes’ [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Councilman James Flurry was one of three city leaders who heard the latest pitch from Gateway Development Consortium and their plan to develop Cross Bayou. Flurry Talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his thoughts regarding the moving ahead with the billion dollar proposal.
GDC recently made its proposal for the 10-year, $1 billion project to the City Council's small business committee, that group consisting of Flurry, along with council members Jerry Bowman and Willie Bradford.
Regarding his support of the project, Flurry says, "As of today, I'm not 100%, but I believe I'm at about 90%, because I don't see it obligating the city to anything." He adds that the city's memorandum of understanding, saying "it let's (Gateway Development Consortium) move ahead with those people on Wall Street that are interested in financing and there are some pretty good players there."
The project would include a new municipal building to for state employees, a shopping complex and housing development.
