Shreveport City Councilman Jerry Bowman talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the $18 monthly garbage fee proposed by Mayor Adrian Perkins and how, council chairman, he expects the ordinance to move through the legislative process.
The ordinance, which will be formally introduced at Tuesday's city council open session, was discussed by the seven members at last Friday's work session. regarding the measure, Bowman tells KEEL listeners that, in his opinion, the Perkins amount is too high. "I'm open for at least six or seven (dollars) and move up, in maybe two dollar increments.I'm open to some kind of negotiations and some sort of a fee."
Bowman adds that he knows that a fee of any amount "would be a burden on some, but in order to move forward and to move the city to where it should be, we have to start somewhere.
