After being discussed, revised and updated numerous times, the Shreveport City Council is set to vote on changing several Shreveport liquor laws today. The new ordinance, if voted through, would equally apply to several types of businesses.

Like restaurants, bars and liquor stores would be able to open on Sundays and the hours alcohol could be sold would be made uniform for all businesses. The new regulations would allow sales of hard liquor between 6 a.m. and 4 a.m. Monday through Sunday.

Those in favor of the ordinance believe it will make the city more business friendly and increase revenue for the city.  The proposal provides for less paperwork and restrictions for citizens and the city as businesses would not need to apply for special permits or licenses.

Below is a 'Fact Sheet' issued by the City Council that shows the changes in the law.
