Costco Is Set to Open New Store in Louisiana
SHREVEPORT, LA – Folks love a bargain and these days we are shopping for deals more than ever. Grocery prices have been sky high and finding ways to save is a top priority. Some folks think buying in bulk is one of the best ways to save money over time. You can get that done at the big discount club stores like Sam's or Costco.
When Did the First Costco Open?
On the Costco corporate site, we learn the company's first location opened in 1976 as a Price Club in San Diego. It was targeting small businesses during those early years. But it soon morphed into a more mainstream business going after consumer dollars. In 1983, the first Costco warehouse location was opened in Seattle.
We now know Costco is expanding and will soon be opening up a new store in Louisiana. The buzz has been happening for many months while the construction has been happening. Costco already has stores in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette. And now we know the retail giant is set to swing open the doors to another Louisiana store.
When Will the New Louisiana Store Open?
This new location in Louisiana is set to open at 8am on August 28. The gas pumps will be up and running on August 16. The workers are hired. The stock is arriving and the shelves are all being loaded to get ready for business to commence.
Where Is the New Louisiana Store?
This new Costco location is opening in Covington, Louisiana just off of I-12. The Covington Costco has generated huge interest and the fan page on Facebook has attracted thousands of followers.
General Manager David Hernandez says they are excited to be in Covington.
This store has hired nearly 200 workers at starting pay just below $20 an hour including benefits.
Memberships to Costco cost $60/year for the Gold Star and $120/year for an Executive Membership.
