Its no secret that Shreveport has maintained high homicide numbers for years. The city struggles with violent crime on a constant basis. But over the last few days, the types of violent crime and homicide have been staggering, even for Shreveport.

Just this weekend, a 1-year-old child was shot and killed in the city. The shooting happened in the overnight hours on Sunday, February 11th, 2024, in the city's Stoner Hill neighborhood. The child was inside an apartment, and was shot in the head around 4am. The baby was the city's 8th homicide of 2024.

Now, in the same area of Shreveport, a man was found stabbed to death outside of his residence.

The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office has identified this morning's stabbing victim as 37-year-old Aaron Paris of Shreveport. He was found stabbed numerous times outside of his residence in the 2200 block of Roosevelt, in Shreveport's Stoner Hill neighborhood. The victim was discovered just before 7:30am, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased was positively identified through fingerprints, and an autopsy has been ordered.

Shreveport Police will be investigating the circumstances surrounding this homicide. They are currently looking for witnesses.

This is the 9th homicide in Shreveport this year. We are currently in the 7th week of 2024, which means we're averaging more that 1 homicide a week in the city. Roughly one homicide every 5 days for 2024.
