There has been some confusion about how the money generated by the garbage fee will be used by the City of Shreveport.

Chief Administrative Officer Sherricka Fields Jones and Communications Manager Ben Riggs joined us Friday morning to talk about the $7 dollar monthly fee and the $5 million it would generate. One big question is whether or not all sanitation workers would get a pay raise.

Initially, Mayor Adrian Perkins talked about boosting the pay for drivers. But some Council Members thought all sanitation workers would get a pay bump.

We also caught up with Sheila Johnson who represents the sanitation workers and she told us the workers did know this increase would only fund a pay boost for drivers, but she continues to maintain this is not fair to other city workers in many other departments.

Mayor Perkins did send out a statement telling us he will now try to find the money to give all sanitation workers a pay increase, if it is feasible.
