Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police Chief Smith announced a significant development today in the investigation of Wednesday night's fatal shooting on Clyde Fant Parkway, which left two people dead and a third wounded.

The department has made its first arrest in the case, with authorities expecting more arrests in the coming hours and days.

First Clyde Fant Shooting Suspect Arrested and Charged

Detectives from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have arrested 17-year-old Travelia Loston. Loston was arrested at Captain Shreve High School without incident on Friday.  Loston faces serious charges, including:

  • 2counts of Second-Degree Murder
  • 1 count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder in connection with the incident.

This marks the initial breakthrough in a complex case that shocked the community.

Investigation Continues: Shreveport Police Say More Arrests Expected

While Loston is the first individual charged, the investigation is far from over. Chief Smith confirmed that multiple additional arrests are anticipated. Currently, detectives have another individual in custody related to the shooting and are actively pursuing at least one to two more suspects. Authorities are working diligently to identify and apprehend everyone involved in the act of violence.

Shreveport Chief Praises Swift Police Action

Chief Smith expressed strong condemnation of the crime, stating, "This was a terrifying act of violence, and it will not be tolerated in our community." He extended his sincere appreciation to the department’s specialized teams for their exceptional work. The Chief specifically recognized the Violent Crimes investigators for their "swift and dedicated efforts" in identifying the responsible parties.

Furthermore, he commended the Shreveport Police Special Response Team for their "professionalism and quick action," which led to Loston's safe apprehension earlier this morning.
