City Engineer: Infrastructure Money Allocation Has Been Politicized [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Engineer Patrick Furlong talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the controversy surrounding how about $10 million in city infrastructure funds will be distributed.
The proposal, which allocates as much as nearly $3 million to Council District A (Willie Bradford) and as little as $150,000 for District C (John Nickelson), has been criticized by many as unfair. Furlong, however, says that evaluation is off the mark, explaining that his department assesses the city's infrastructure based on condition and does not take location into consideration.
And when asked if his assessment of the city's needs have been politicized, Furlong responds simply, "Yes."
