As society starts to look for the end of the COVID-19 outbreak, CHRISTUS Health offers a "game changer" that could alter the path of the virus fallout. This new "game changer" comes in the form of antibody testing.

CHRISTUS has already been working to use random temperature checks and COVID-19 tests for employees, but now they will be rolling out antibody testing for those who may have already been exposed to the virus, and recovered. This testing is a massive "game changer", because the results are returned in roughly 10 minutes.

In a release from CHRISTUS,  Dr. Sam Bagchi, CHRISTUS Health’s EVP and Chief Clinical Officer said"

“Beginning today, we are adding the unprecedented additional layer of antibody screening to help survey for asymptomatic COVID-19 infections among patients and caregivers.”

The release says that their team has been spending weeks assessing the reliability of this new antibody testing, and believe that this testing is ready to help defeat the virus. CHRISTUS has become the first health system in the Shreveport-Bossier area to begin using this antibody testing.

Many medical experts believe that antibody testing is going to be a major piece in winning the war against COVID-19. Dr. Harvey Fineberg from the T.H. Chan School of Public Health at Harvard recently wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine about this form of testing being a "game changer".
