Shreveport Advances with New Southeast Police Substation

The City of Shreveport is moving forward with construction of its third new police substation. Testament Construction submitted the lowest bid at $1,794,000 for the project, which will be located in Cedar Grove Park at the corner of West 70th Street and St. Vincent Avenue, near Interstate 49.

Once completed, the Cedar Grove Substation will serve Southeast Shreveport and nearby neighborhoods, expanding public safety resources and improving law enforcement presence in the area.

Part of the 2021 Public Safety Bond

This new facility marks the final substation authorized by voters through the 2021 Public Safety Bond. Mayor Tom Arceneaux highlighted the importance of the project, noting that his administration has worked to accelerate progress on these long-planned facilities.

The three substations include:

• Monkhouse Drive Substation – Opened last month near Shreveport Regional Airport.

• North Market Street Substation – Currently under construction, with completion expected by next spring.

• Cedar Grove Substation – Scheduled to open by late next summer.

Mayor Arceneaux emphasized that the substations are a vital investment in community policing and faster emergency response times.

“These substations reflect our commitment to stronger community policing and improved response times,” said Arceneaux. “I want to thank the Perkins administration for initiating this project through the 2021 bond issue, and I am grateful to the citizens of Shreveport who supported it. Our administration is proud to carry this work forward and deliver on this important investment in public safety.”
