SHREVEPORT, LA - The Caddo Parish School Board meets today to name an interim member to the board.

Four people have applied to fill the vacancy in District 7. Darrin Dixon resigned from the board at the end of September.

The board is meeting in special session at 2:30 today (Tuesday) to interview the four candidates.

Following the interviews and vote of the Board Members, the appointed District 7 representative will be sworn in and begin their term of service immediately.

Who Has Applied to Serve on the Board?

Jerry Bowman, Jr. served on the Shreveport City Council from 2015-2022

Carla Buntyn Education background in Criminal Justice, Business Management and Human Services.

Pamela M. Jackson former educator and department chair.

Linda Rasberry Smith retired teacher librarian.

During the interviews, the candidates will have 10 minutes to present information including why they desire to serve as an interim board member, their special skills or experience to offer to the position and their perspective on the role of a board member. Candidates will be allowed to make final summary statements, and the Board is expected to vote at the conclusion of the interviews to name an interim.

All of these interviews will take place in open session.

The interim  board member will serve until a special election is held on March 29, 2025. Qualifying for the election will take place Jan. 29-31.
