Due to the coronavirus and the global response to help slow the spread of the virus, many major events have been canceled and normal life has been put on hold. For students, it's been a particularly rough year as the school year, sports and all sorts of other milestone life events were canceled.

However, Caddo and DeSoto Parish schools are hoping to be able to give students some sense of normalcy with graduation ceremonies. Of course, the tentative plan is dependent on whether or not the governor will allow large gatherings by late summer.

In Caddo, the School Board is planning to hold graduation events from July 27 to Aug. 1 at the Shreveport Convention Center.

In DeSoto, graduation ceremonies are also being planned for late July. Logansport High's ceremony is scheduled for July 20th. Stanley on the 21st, North DeSoto High on July 23rd and Mansfield High on July 24th. You can see the full statement from DeSoto Parish Schools below.

Other local parishes, including Sabine, say they don't plan on scheduling events until the Governor fully lifts the statewide stay at home order.
