Burglars Nabbed Thanks to Astute Caller

Two Texas men have been arrested, thanks to their vigilant would-be victim. A caller told Shreveport police dispatchers that he heard a noise coming from outside his room at Motel 6 in the 7200 block of Greenwood Road. He says he looked out into the parking lot and saw two men stealing items from his truck. When patrol officers arrived, they found the two men trying to climb into the bed of the victim's pickup -- and they were taken into custody without incident. Investigators have found that the men had stolen items from the vehicle...including an ice chest that was later found hidden behind the motel. The men are identified as 60-year-old Billy McCann and 48-year-old John Weaver -- both of Malakoff, Texas. They're charged with one count of simple burglary each.
