Bossier Parish Educator Named American Legion Teacher of the Year
An Airline High School social studies teacher gets quite an honor.
Michael Pedrotty has been named the Region 4 American Legion Teacher of the Year. The award recognizes the "contributions of Louisiana teachers based on their professional accomplishments, community service and family values."
Mr. Pedrotty has been teaching social studies at Airline for five years. He taught in Caddo Parish for two years, and at the collegiate level at the University of Illinois and LSU-S before that.
"I am particularly honored to receive this award because I have such respect for all the great work that the American Legion does in promoting scholarship and citizenship in the students of Bossier Parish, and Louisiana at large," said Pedrotty in a news release. "As the proud brother of three combat veterans, I also have a special appreciation for the American Legion and its community of veterans, so to be honored by them for service of a different sort is also very gratifying."
